The Family History Group is, at present, in hibernation but it is hoped to re-start in the autumn. It used to meet mainly at Steward Mill but has also had joint meetings with the IT Group at the Moretonhampstead Library and at the Devon Family History Centre in Exeter. The subject is all about understanding the sources, such as parish records and wills, tracking down all the relevant data, interpreting the ambiguities and then piecing all the bits together and presenting the results in an interesting and tidy document. The pleasure is in discovering one's roots and trying to imagine the lives of one's forebears. Can we know who we are without knowing where we came from?
